The WWE Royal Rumble match is one of the more highly anticipated wrestling matches of the entire year. Surprises, comebacks and more highlight a star-studded affair that has fans everywhere involved and engaged, hoping to watch their favorite superstars earn the chance to main event WrestleMania. After 2018’s outstanding Men’s Royal Rumble, who will excel in the 2019 match?

At last year’s event, fans were gifted with one of the better WWE Royal Rumble matches of all time. There were wonderful surprises, including appearances from NXT stars Andrade “Cien” Almas and Adam Cole. We also got to see two legends return to a WWE ring, as Rey Mysterio and The Hurricane shocked the crowd when their music played.

The entertainment was off the charts all the way until the end where it was a mix of new school vs. old school with John Cena, Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton facing off against Finn Balor, Shinsuke Nakamura and Roman Reigns. Nakamura ultimately eliminated Reigns for the victory, putting an end to an excellent contest.

In order for the 2019 Men’s Royal Rumble match to succeed and live up to the expectations set forth by the 2018 version, there will have to be a mix of surprise call-ups and returns, while also telling a compelling story that ends with one man beginning his journey on the Road to WrestleMania.

It’s always difficult to try and determine who will take up each of the 30 spots, but it can be a fun exercise for fans. The main roster is stacked with potential superstars that would be perfect for the event and NXT has plenty of options as well. There’s countless numbers of legends out there that would also get huge pops for a shock return. With that being said, let’s take a look at my predictions for all 30 entrants in the 2019 Men’s Royal Rumble.

1-2. Seth Rollins & A.J. Styles

I’ve stuck these two guys together because I’d love to see both men start off the match. Since A.J. Styles’ debut at the 2016 Royal Rumble, he has somehow avoided Seth Rollins for the most part. This is a shame because you’re talking about two of the best wrestlers in the world. If they keep avoiding each other on Raw and SmackDown, we’ll have to settle for two minutes at the start of the Royal Rumble.

The crowd would immediately be engaged watching these two guys tear down the house with 28 entrants still to come. Both would also be believable choices to be the “Iron Man” of the match with a chance to go all the way until the end. It’s not crazy to think they could even end up being the final two superstars remaining, setting up an even crazier finish.
