Alicia Fox, Mickie James, and Dana Brooke vs. Sasha Banks, Bayley, and Ember Moon

Result: The babyfaces win after Bayley pins Mickie off of the Boss and Hug Connection’s tag finisher

Ember Moon and Mickie James start things off, showing their great chemistry, and James was desperate for an early win against the woman who eliminated her in the Gauntlet Match last week with the vaunted Eclipse. But Alicia Fox quickly tagged in and got beaten up badly by Moon, who threw in a crazy suicide dive on Mickie for good measure before taking some heat from Fox.

This was a fun back-and-forth match, and the end was frenetic. Moon hit an Eclipse on Fox, who had saved the matchup, to clear the way for Sasha Banks and Bayley. A backstabber and Bayley-to-Belly combo followed on Mickie James, and Bayley pinned her for a sweet victory.

The celebration barely lasted, however, as the Riott Squad came in to attack the babyfaces. Given that Vince McMahon announced the new Women’s Tag Team Championships just a segment earlier, while dressed up in a Santa Claus costume that stifled his voice slightly, this attack from the Riott Squad is significant. It could set up a renewed rivalry between the two teams (Banks and Bayley vs. the Riott Squad), perhaps with more on the line. These teams could face in a tournament for those new tag titles.

Grade: B-, A quick but solid match, and the fact that the Women’s Tag Titles were announced before this match helped give some meaning to the Riott Squad’s attack on Moon and the Boss and Hug Connection.
