WWE Raw Results, Highlights, And Grades For December 24, 2018

Seth Rollins vs. Baron Corbin

We already saw Seth Rollins defeat Baron Corbin a couple of weeks ago in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match on the go-home episode of WWE Raw prior to TLC. It was a grueling match that Rollins won by the skin of his teeth despite Corbin’s desperate, cheating ways, but the damage was done; the match may have costed Rollins his Intercontinental Championship days later against Dean Ambrose.

Angered after losing his title to Ambrose, Rollins is ready to get back on track, but the same could be said for Corbin. Not only would Corbin like to get some revenge against Rollins for what happened prior to TLC, but he was also embarrassed by the Raw roster and the McMahons after being ousted from power. This is a huge matchup for both superstars to close the Christmas Eve show.

Rollins immediately started wailing on Corbin in the corner when the bell rang, and he dumped the former Constable to the outside in order to hit an early suicide dive on one of WWE’s most hated villains. Seth proceeded to deliver some knife-edged chops (Mauro Ranallo shoutout!) outside the ring and then went for a Stomp inside the ring. Corbin avoided the Stomp by rolling to the outside, but he was hit with another suicide dive by a fired-up Rollins.

Throughout the match, Rollins was all-systems-go, hitting his offense at breakneck speed and nailing some incredible counters. But Corbin hit a huge counter of his own at a critical moment of the match, countering The Stomp into another lovely Deep Six.

Eventually, Rollins grabbed a second win over Corbin, pinning him with The Stomp after nailing him with a superkick from the corner. It was another key win for Rollins, and he’s on his way to ending the year in style.

Grade: B, Another solid match from Rollins, and Corbin looked good here, too. But Rollins was especially fired up, and he really wanted to show out for the crowd. He was going at a thousand miles an hour in this one.
