WWE SmackDown Results, Highlights, And Grades For December 25, 2018
The Usos vs. Sanity vs. The Club vs. The Bar
An eight-man tag team match with four amazing teams? Sounds incredible! Before the match started, the Fresno crowd was able to hear from the fifth great tag team on WWE SmackDown, as The New Day came out dressed for Christmas. They even colored their pancakes for the holidays!
While the SmackDown Tag Team Championships aren’t on the line here, this match could lead to a big opportunity for one of the other tag teams in the match. All three members of The New Day were on commentary, too, adding more hype to the match. They always get me in a great mood for the holidays, especially when they bring out a copious amount of baby oil for Big E!
Karl Anderson and Sheamus got the match started to a stalemate, and Sheamus quickly tagged in Cesaro, who was treated to a sickening spinebuster before Jey Uso made his way into the ring for Anderson. Jimmy Uso entered the fray just as quickly to take on Cesaro, who then brought Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain into the mix. (Eric Young was outside the ring to help create distractions that would benefit Sanity.)
It didn’t take long for the match to break down into chaos, which would seemingly favor Sanity, given that they thrive off of pure madness in the ring. Sheamus and Cesaro hit a beautiful double-team move on Luke Gallows that was broken up without much trouble.
Superkicks and other big moves were traded, and when these four teams start doing the spot where everyone hits their best moves, it doesn’t get any better than that.
Well, maybe it does…because Gallows and Anderson isolated Cesaro in the ring, hitting him with the Magic Killer to snag a HUGE win over the SmackDown Tag Team Champions! Afterwards, they got some props from The New Day and The Usos, standing tall with a possible title shot in their hands after the big Four-Way win.
Grade: B+, 2018 closes with yet another strong showing by the elite SmackDown Tag Team Division, and it was AMAZING to see The Club back on SmackDown and shining. They are so good at what they do, and hopefully they’ll get more opportunities like this one.
