WWE Royal Rumble: 10 Potential Winners of the Women’s Rumble
There’s just over a month until the Road to WrestleMania hits high gear via the WWE Royal Rumble, and there’s already heavy speculation and who will win the night’s eponymous matches. We’ve already looked at the favorites to win the Men’s Rumble, but which female superstars could succeed Asuka in winning the Women’s Royal Rumble Match?
We don’t yet know who will be challenging Asuka or Ronda Rousey for their respective championships on that night, but history has shown even those challengers can’t be ruled out. Just two years ago, Roman Reigns lost a Universal Championship Match only to be the final entrant in the Royal Rumble. While he didn’t come out victorious, it just further proves that you never know what to expect at WWE Royal Rumble.
Last year we got to see the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble Match, and the contest definitely lived up to the hype. It’ll be interesting to see how the breakdown of participants compares this year to how things happened during the inaugural Women’s Rumble. Last year there were 18 main roster superstars, 10 returning legends, and two superstars from NXT. While we’ll probably still see several returning legends, it won’t necessarily be as high of a number as we saw in 2018.
In order to look at this year’s numbers, the first step is knowing how many main roster superstars are available for the match. By my count, there are 26 potential entrants who are currently considered main roster talent. Of those, Maryse is the only one who hasn’t been on television in some time. With the additional removal of the current champions, that leaves 23 possible entrants currently on the main roster.
There’s also new talent like Nikki Cross and Lacey Evans headed to the main roster, on top of a plethora of talent in NXT that could be called up at the event or compete in a one-off appearance. That keeps the field wide open, but which ten superstars already look like potential winners? Who should already have their sights on WrestleMania?
