3. Drew McIntyre defeats Dolph Ziggler in a late match of the year contender inside a steel cage.

Last week, Drew McIntyre made it known he would be one of the first entrants in the Men’s Royal Rumble match. In the process, McIntyre likely became one of the undisputed favorites to win said match, given the spotlight he’s had on Raw in recent months.

This week, McIntyre will be looking to build what WWE likes to emphasize as the ever-important element of “momentum” heading into Royal Rumble in a steel cage match against Dolph Ziggler.

While McIntyre lost a triple threat match against Finn Balor and Ziggler last week, I expect this week to wind up quite differently.

I believe McIntyre will end up standing tall over Ziggler after a hard fought back-and-forth match that perfectly caps off the 2018 year for WWE.

We all know Ziggler is capable of “stealing the show”, and in the process putting on great matches when we are usually least expecting them. At the same time, McIntyre is more than capable of putting on epic bouts himself, giving this match a high likelihood for greatness.

While its unusual for potential match of the year candidates to occur this late in the calendar, this match has all the ingredients to become a true contender if WWE gives them the proper time to really sell their rivalry this week.

For all intents and purposes, that rivalry will likely end this week with McIntyre’s win propelling him back into the Universal Championship conversation for his impending Men’s Royal Rumble entry, on the heels of yet another star making performance.

McIntyre will be far from the only competitor looking for momentum on WWE Raw heading into the Royal Rumble this week, however, as the Women’s Royal Rumble match is still awaiting some more attention grabbing entrants.
