WWE: Ranking The Top 10 NXT Superstars of 2018
By Laura Mauro
Not that anyone ever doubted it, but: NXT sure did live up to its reputation for consistently knocking it out of the metaphorical park in 2018.
The black-and-yellow brand is arguably WWE‘s strongest weekly show, with a plethora of well-utilised stars, a no-nonsense format which continually delivers, and a series of compelling storylines culminating in must-see TakeOver events throughout the year. It may not have the luxury of a live TV audience, but NXT has gained a loyal cult following, and it doesn’t take a PhD to understand why.
While NXT is ostensibly a developmental brand, its backbone has always been its top stars. From Sami Zayn to the original Four Horsewomen, NXT has long prided itself on developing bona fide superstars, and part of the show’s appeal is undeniably in watching new talent rise up the ranks, unveiling their potential as they go. And while main roster success may (unfortunately) prove elusive, NXT is a place where atypical wrestlers and personalities might shine.
With top talents such as Asuka, Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas, Ember Moon and SAnitY making the transition to main roster fame, any fears of a weakened or depleted roster were put to rest as NXT’s newest and most exciting prospects rose to prominence, ably filling some very large boots on the way.
NXT was in rude health this year, and as we cross the finish line into 2019, let’s take a look at the stars that shone the brightest in 2018.
