8. Ricochet

Start as you mean to go on, as the old adage goes, and Ricochet certainly lived up to this with his NXT debut at TakeOver: New Orleans, where he competed in an insane six-man ladder match. There’s little doubt that Ricochet is the most dynamic and exciting in-ring performer NXT has to offer right now, and he’s only getting started.

Snatching the brand-new NXT North American Championship from Adam Cole just a few months after his debut was a clear indicator that Ricochet is destined to go all the way. And it’s difficult to argue otherwise.

Ricochet’s high-speed, high-risk style fits perfectly into the NXT environment – albeit with a few necessary modifications – and the result has been a series of jaw-dropping matches with the likes of Pete Dunne and Velveteen Dream.

He’s held firmly onto the North American Championship since his win in August, and though Dunne and Dream were worthy challengers, Ricochet is yet to encounter an opponent who can wear him down. His grip on the title shows no sign of loosening, but with Tommaso Ciampa egging on former teammate Johnny Gargano, a potentially explosive feud may well be in the works – expect some truly show-stealing stuff should this one come to fruition.

With over a decade of wrestling experience behind him, it’s no surprise that Ricochet has achieved so much in such a short space of time. Expect 2019 to be his year.
