WWE Raw Results, Highlights, And Grades For December 31, 2018
Natalya Promo
After briefly putting over Apollo Crews, Dasha Fuentes began a backstage interview with Natalya, who spoke about her up-and-down 2018. Nattie spoke about her match against Ronda Rousey for the Raw Women’s Championship last week, stating that both women pushed each other to their limits.
But just as Nattie made her intention to go after the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 35 clear, entering herself into the Royal Rumble, Nia Jax stepped in to insult The Queen of Hearts. She asked Natalya how she could be so sure that Rousey would remain the champion at the “Show of Shows”, insinuating that she’d injure her just as she injured Becky Lynch.
Tamina then blindsided Natalya, and she and Nia began destroying her before producers had to step in to break up the beatdown.
Grade: C, Surely, this will lead to some sort of a match on Raw between Tamina and Natalya, or maybe it’ll be Natalya vs. Nia. Either way, I wouldn’t mind another match like this for Nia, and the audience did continue to boo her here.
Baron Corbin/Elias Segment
Baron Corbin started ranting about his battle royal loss, blaming the WWE Universe for booing him and hurting his standing as the previous leader of WWE Raw. He started ranting about having to please the McMahons, the sponsors, and the ego s in the locker room.
It was classic Corbin, and he as once again interrupted by his old friend Elias!
Elias praised Detroit as a “city on the rise” after name-dropping Kid Rock as a good friend of his. And he reminded me of how badly I want him to come to Cleveland and put us the heck over, because every single city in America deserves that. Well, every city except the ones that have the most carbon emissions. “The Planet’s Champion” must be respected.
Corbin had enough, as he started beating up Elias and sending him into the tech area. But Elias fought back as the brawl extended into the audience, and based on what we saw last week during the Miracle on 34th Street, you don’t want to brawl with Elias; you just want to walk with him.
So yeah, Elias won that round.
Grade: B-, Fun, light-hearted action, and it was great seeing Elias get the better end of Corbin, who is the most hated man on Raw. (Or one of them) You can skip this segment if you’re pressed for time, but if you love watching Elias and love hate-watching Corbin, go for it.
