2. The New Day’s New Year’s Celebration is crashed by Gallows and Anderson, The Usos, and The Bar

It seems like every few weeks, we are destined to see a New Day party crashed by a heel tag team.

For once, I wish The New Day could throw a celebratory segment without a hitch, just to see what it would be like. Unfortunately, that won’t happen this week though, when Big E and company are interrupted by three major tag teams.

On SmackDown Live last week, we saw Gallows and Anderson pin The Bar in an eight-man tag match that also featured The Usos and SAnitY. There’s no doubt that WWE’s two good brothers will be looking to capitalize on that win by becoming the number 1 contenders for the tag team titles.

Therefore, when The New Day start talking about trying to recapture the SmackDown Live Tag Team Championships, Gallows and Anderson will hit the ring to stake their claim. In response, that will bring out The Usos, who will be ready to remind everyone who else was on the winning eight-man team last week. Finally then, that will bring out The Bar to defend their loss last week.

When it’s all said and done, this segment will likely turn into either a triple threat number 1 contender’s tag team match or another tag team tournament featuring these 3 teams and a team like SAnitY to determine who will face The Bar at The Royal Rumble.

While we may be getting tired of these kinds of matches and segments for the SmackDown tag team division, I’m not expecting WWE’s “fresh start” to change that much. Luckily, there will at least be some fresh teams involved, meaning we should get some new and exciting tag team action out of the whole angle.

Any excitement surrounding the expanding tag division pales in comparison, however, to the excitement and intrigue that comes with the newest main event angle on SmackDown.
