WWE Raw this week looks to build some hype for the red brand in 2019. With the potential for a major confrontation between Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar, they may be able to get some much needed momentum.

SmackDown outshined Raw last week. Its that simple.

Any show that features the official WWE return of John Cena, in a segment and match with Becky Lynch no less, along with a fatal five-way to determine the number 1 contender for the WWE Championship is usually the better show.

With WWE Raw featuring a lot of retreads of old rivalries last week, my guess is that WWE wants each brand’s first show of the new year to be the episode that gets people talking.

Well, we’re here. It’s the first WWE Raw of 2019, and the company seems ready to deliver some exciting angles.

This week, the oftentimes unseen Universal Champion Brock Lesnar makes his return to WWE TV for what will surely be a confrontation with his Royal Rumble opponent Braun Strowman. No one would fault you for mixing-up Lesnar with Jack Griffin at this point, but nevertheless, his returns to WWE TV typically become one of the most talked about angles of the week.

In addition, John Cena is set to make his return to Monday nights. This time, Cena is indeed advertised on the company’s preview for Raw, ensuring that he will be on show this week.

If a returning Brock Lesnar and John Cena aren’t enough, then WWE has even thrown in a Raw Tag Team Championship rematch featuring The Revival facing Chad Gable and Bobby Roode.

With a lineup like that, I think its safe to say we’re in store for one of the biggest episodes of WWE Raw in recent memory this week, starting with the potential featuring of a much-desired title change.
