WWE Raw 5 Takeaways: The Almighty Bobby Lashley Costs The Architect

The Jan. 7th edition of WWE Raw was not a perfectly consistent show, in typical Raw form, but it did feature several important moments that are among the most impactful moments the show has had in a while.
The first WWE Raw of 2019 saw a potential seed planted for a possible WrestleMania match, a tribute to a legend, a marquee championship match, and more with a mix of positives and negatives.
The Royal Rumble is just under three weeks away and things are heating up. With that being said, let’s take a look at five key takeaways from the Jan. 7 edition of WWE Raw.
5. John Cena vs. Drew McIntyre Is WrestleMania Worthy
With the turn of the new year, it isn’t long until the road to WrestleMania starts heating up, starting with the Royal Rumble later this month. A couple superstars that will participate in the Royal Rumble match decided to voice their displeasures with each other last night.
John Cena came out to WWE Raw to announce that he would be entering the Royal Rumble match, so he could find a purpose heading into WrestleMania this year.
However, Cena was interrupted by Drew McIntyre, who had a lot to say regarding BIg Match John’s return. McIntyre is also participating in the Royal Rumble match and he made sure to let Cena know he wouldn’t be winning his third Royal Rumble match.
‘The Scottish Psychopath’ had more choice words for Cena, culminating with him saying he was coming for Cena. Tensions boiled and then Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley, Finn Balor, and Dean Ambrose all came out and the brawl took off from there.
This led to a six-man tag team match immediately after this segment, but the bigger picture might be the interaction between Cena and McIntyre.
This feels like a WrestleMania-quality match-up that could be very beneficial for McIntyre, one of the fastest-rising heels in the business. A one-on-one encounter with a 16-time world champion on the grandest stage of them all just makes sense, and it’s no coincidence that the WWE didn’t decide to have them face each other last night in a one-on-one match.
The WWE could be saving this match for WrestleMania, and that’s exactly where it needs to take place at in a feud that could be one of the best of the year.
