Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch Dominate WWE’s Power Rankings

Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch are two of the most respected athletes in the entire wrestling world, and they were No. 1 and 2, respectively, in WWE’s power rankings this week.

At the WWE Royal Rumble Pay Per View on Jan. 27, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch will have title opportunities for their respective brands. Becky, once again, submitted Carmella on an episode of SmackDown Live to win a Triple Threat (Charlotte Flair was, of course, the third woman in the match) that was essentially a SummerSlam rematch.

This victory will enable Becky to face Asuka in a dream match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at the Rumble, as The Empress of Tomorrow defeated Becky and Charlotte at TLC, thanks to Ronda Rousey’s interference, to become champ.

Meanwhile, “The Legit Boss” will take on Rousey in the Raw Women’s Championship match at the Royal Rumble, as she defeated Nia Jax in an entertaining match that was filled with Banks’s typically excellent selling. Banks and Rousey are perfect opponents, and both title matches figure to be “Match of the Year” contenders.

The impressive “W’s” scored by Sasha and Becky on WWE television this week enabled the Four Horsewomen’s most acclaimed wrestlers to top this week’s power rankings, released on WWE’s Instagram story.

Banks and Lynch have always been immensely popular due to their in-ring chops and promo skills (seriously, “Bitch, what line?”), and it’s awesome to see that they are riding a wave of momentum heading into #WrestleManiaSZN.

While Rousey will likely remain undefeated heading into WrestleMania 35, Sasha will take Ronda to her limit and honestly does have a slim chance at pulling off the upset. Becky and Asuka are about 50/50 going into their title match, but perhaps Becky could win the title, Charlotte could win the Rumble, and Rousey could face them both in the main event of ‘Mania for the SmackDown Women’s Title to help facilitate Ronda’s move to the sports-centric FOX-bound show.

Or maybe Rousey just faces Becky in singles competition and we don’t get to see an INSANE Banks upset win over Ronda at the Rumble PPV.

Whatever happens, both matches should be thoroughly entertaining, and it’s great to see WWE ranking two of their best and most well-liked superstars No. 1 and 2 in this week’s power rankings. Hopefully Sasha and Becky can keep that momentum going and own the power rankings for the forseeable future; this will be a huge year for both women.
