Report: WWE Is Expected To Add Viper To Its Roster
WWE is looking to bolster its NXT UK Women’s Division, as there are rumors swirling that they are pursuing Viper and Bea Priestley after already showing Kay Lee Ray and Jazzy Gabert in the NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool crowd.
On Jan. 12, WWE aired its first NXT UK special in Blackpool, England, and the show was seen as a success. The Blackpool crowd was fully behind the wrestlers in the ring, each match delivered, and debuts were either made (WALTER confronted Pete Dunne after the latter’s successful main event title defense against Joe Coffey) or teased (Kay Lee Ray and Jazzy Gabert were shown in the crowd, which is the customary way for NXT to “announce” new signing).
It seems like the promotion is focusing on adding more star power to its women’s divisions in NXT, and KLR and Gabert would undoubtedly be massive additions to a division that includes Toni Storm as champion, Rhea Ripley, Charlie Morgan, Jinny, and more.
Per Fightful.com’s Jeremy Lambert, the Wrestling Observer News’s Dave Meltzer is reporting that Piper Niven, known as “Viper”, is expected to sign with WWE.
Viper and KLR are signed with World of Sport and competed in an excellent rivalry for the promotion’s women’s championship, and they were probably the two standouts of the promotion.
Both women, like Gabert, appeared in the first Mae Young Classic, and Viper was profiled extensively, standing out in her matches before being eliminated by Storm in the quarterfinals.
It appears that Viper has declined an offer from All Elite Wrestling, which has signed “All In” standouts Britt Baker and Penelope Ford, and will take WWE’s offer. She could debut on NXT UK quickly and become a real threat to win the title, whether she feuds with Storm or somebody else. Viper is good as a heel or face, but there’s something special about watching her cut a bad-ass babyface promo; that may be her best role with the UK brand.
Either way, we are a way’s off from knowing Viper’s future, and it will be interesting to see if WWE can ink both her and Bea Priestley, who is also signed to WOS and is a member of STARDOM’s Queen’s Quest faction.
The NXT UK brand is in a great spot right now, and it could become even stronger with the potential signings of Gabert, KLR, Viper, and Priestley.
