Toni Storm On Becky Lynch: ‘She’s someone that’s inspired me so much’

At WWE NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool on Jan. 12, Toni Storm defeated Rhea Ripley for the United Kingdom Women’s Championship. One of the most inspirational babyfaces in wrestling, Storm said she looks up to Becky Lynch, who has been a beacon of light for many wrestling fans.

Ever since betraying Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam last year, Becky Lynch has stepped into the spotlight and hasn’t looked back. Arguably the biggest star in the company right now, Lynch upstaged John Cena, took Nia Jax’s best shot, and brought the SmackDown Women’s Championship to prominence, establishing herself as a true superstar in WWE.

Toni Storm could be headed for superstardom one day, too. A standout in the first ever Mae Young Classic, Storm only boosted her stock since with great matches all over the world, particularly with STARDOM, before winning the Mae Young Classic 2 and joining WWE as the face of the NXT UK brand.

Her comebacks and journey to WWE have inspired many, to the point where a lot of fans look up to Storm as a person. The same can be said for the way fans look up to Becky, so it was cool to hear Storm tell Planeta Wrestling just how much she is inspired by Lynch’s strength.

"“I really want to be in there with Becky. She’s someone that’s inspired me so much, especially in recent times, ya know, she’s the man. I just love her strength, and I love her fire, and she’s a strong woman, and that inspires me. That’s why I keep doing this.”"

The United Kingdom Women’s Champion gave this answer in response to a question asking who her dream match at WrestleMania would be. Storm unsurprisingly gave some praise to Ronda Rousey and Sasha Banks, whom she appeared on an uplifting pre-Evolution panel with, before sending those warm words in Becky’s direction.

Becky Lynch vs. Toni Storm would undoubtedly be a dream match for many fans, especially those who are familiar with Storm’s work. Though she isn’t at the top of the ladder on the main roster like Lynch is, she’s well on her way. It’s almost hard to believe that Storm is just 23, because for as good as she is right now, she has all the time in the world to improve and reach the summit of professional wrestling.
