Report: The Revival Could Be ‘Finishing Up’ With WWE

After weeks of questionable booking on Raw, former NXT Tag Team Champions The Revival could be on their way out of WWE according to a report by Fightful. It would be a huge loss for WWE, but could be an even bigger gain for the company that gets them.

In an exclusive report earlier today, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful wrote that The Revival may be on their way out of WWE. There’s been some speculation about it being a possibility, but nothing this close to confirming such a move.

"“Fightful.com learned today that several within WWE were fearful that Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder were finishing up with the company. I’m careful to make sure not to say they outright asked for their releases, as I wasn’t told explicitly that’s what happened. Instead, I was told “has reason to be very fearful that The Revival are done or finishing up with the company” after a situation unfolded at WWE Raw.”"

Since coming to the main roster from NXT, The Revival has struggled to find a home in a fairly disorganized tag team division. They went relatively unnoticed for months, and have only recently been able to get on tv more often. Unfortunately, those appearances haven’t been good ones.

The Revival, a team that’s a throwback to the old days of tag team wrestling, has been stuck in an odd rivalry with Lucha House Party that has seen them lose multiple times thanks to some shenanigans from the opposing trio.

It now looks like those poor decisions have brought The Revival to a breaking point and they’re looking to get out of WWE. We’ve also seen reporting from BodySlam that The Revival directly asked to be released from their contracts this week on Raw.

What makes things even more interesting is the potential for The Revival to head to All Elite Wrestling. While this report doesn’t confirm their departure or their intentions after leaving, it certainly sets the chance for The Revival to head to AEW.

The team was notably involved in an online feud with AEW’s The Young Bucks over the last few years, stemming from Cody Rhodes uttering “F*ck The Revival” on an episode of Being the Elite.

Fans began to go along with it and the hashtag “#FTR” started to trend on Twitter. In response, The Revival tried to take the hashtag for themselves and claimed it stood for “Forever The Revival.” This week on Raw, they were wearing the “#FTR” gear despite having not brought it up in quite some time.

All of these little things, compounded by Fightful’s report today, seem to indicate The Revival is on their way out of WWE and looking for more elite competition elsewhere.
