It’s the WWE Raw go-home show this week, as one of the biggest shows of the year is almost upon us. What last-minute angles will Raw add to The Royal Rumble?
I’ll be the first one to admit it. WWE Raw go-home shows are just not my cup of tea.
They tend to be predictable, and oftentimes feature less than stellar matches. To an extent, its understandable considering the fact their will be a major show in under a week, but these shows always feel like somewhat of a let-down.
Fortunately, Raw this week appears ready to flip some of those standards on their heads.
Raw has been as unpredictable as ever in recent weeks. Sasha Banks became the number 1 contender for Ronda Rousey’s WWE Raw Women’s Championship, setting up a dream match at The Royal Rumble that I’m not quite sure many fans expected to see.
Additionally, and this is perhaps the biggest twist I’ve seen in recent memory in WWE, Finn Balor became the #1 contender for the Universal Championship after Braun Strowman was stripped of the opportunity for destroying Vince McMahon’s limo.
Regardless of my feelings about said McMahon limo destruction angle, Balor’s opportunity means there’s quite a lot of ground WWE will need to cover in one show in order to set up a true rivalry between ‘The Demon King’ and ‘The Beast Incarnate.’
That’s why I expect WWE may skip with the extended pleasantries or hype-building, and essentially get straight to the action, considering both Balor and Lesnar are currently advertised for Raw.
