Impact Wrestling: Scarlett Bordeaux’s Stock Continues To Rise

Impact Wrestling fans eagerly awaited Scarlett Bordeaux’s decision on Friday night, as she was set to select the winner of her “Talent Search”. And nobody should have been surprised when she ultimately chose to focus on herself.

Though the likes of KM, Petey Williams, and Fallah Bahh may have thought they had a chance at securing the managerial services of Scarlett Bordeaux, the fact of the matter is that even Impact Wrestling’s best and brightest (or in this case, goofiest) talent simply weren’t legitimate candidates.

When Bordeaux announced on Impact TV last night that she was the winner of her own “Talent Search”, she made a statement of self-confidence that jibes with everything we know about her character.

See, when Bordeaux claims that everyone else is a “five” in comparison to her status as a “ten”, she isn’t just talking about her looks (though that undoubtedly factors into the equation); she’s making a grander statement of how she views everyone else. To Bordeaux, all of her peers are perfectly average fives, whereas she is, in her estimation, perfection.

(Also I’m dead at Impact titling the beginning of their video “Scarlett Bordeaux REVEALS HERSELF…” to boost their views)

From the beginning, Bordeaux basically told us that she’s pick herself to win her own “Talent Search”. She spoke about how she would focus her entire, undivided attention and immense skill-set on one extremely talented individual, guiding them to the top. Because of course she was referring to herself!

Bordeaux had fans and wrestlers sending her videos and sucking up to her in a way that really put the focus on her. What could cement the importance of a character more than having thousands upon thousands of people practically begging for their help?

Impact Wrestling fans have been waiting for Bordeaux to show her talents in the ring, perhaps eventually working her way into the Knockouts Championship mix. It won’t be easy to beat stars like Tessa Blanchard, Rosemary, Taya Valkyrie, Kiera Hogan, Allie, Su Yung, and Jordynne Grace, but Bordeaux could certainly impress.

More importantly, Bordeaux has as much buzz as anyone in Impact, even if she’s never held a championship or even wrestled inside an Impact ring. If she could command that much attention from wrestling fans and, in kayfabe, her peers, then imagine what she could be capable of if she puts together some strong performances in the ring that force fans to take her seriously as a title threat.

Bordeaux has brought “sexy” back to wrestling in a way that empowers her, and while there will always be creepy fans who try to cross the line, Bordeaux’s character has been smartly written in a way that makes it possible for her to be viewed as a threat to others. She isn’t just sexy. She’s also cunning, well-spoken, extremely confident, and potentially very good in the ring. And now that she’s publicly committing to focus every ounce of her attention on her own success, everyone else has been put on notice.

Fans of Impact should be excited for what’s to come for “The Smokeshow”, and after enjoying an excellent first few months with the company in 2018, it looks like 2019 could be her year to truly make a huge splash in the promotion. Unique characters like her are poised for stardom this year, and Bordeaux, like Rosemary and Brian Cage, could help Impact Wrestling gain some much-needed momentum over the course of this year.
