With WWE Royal Rumble 2019, we’re officially on the Road to WrestleMania. If you need any last minute details on this year’s pay per view, look no further.

WWE Royal Rumble 2019 is the 32nd annual edition of the classic pay per view. Since 1992, there have been immediate world title consequences, and since 1993 the winner of the namesake match has been guaranteed a championship match at WrestleMania.

That namesake match is one of the more unique contests in all of WWE. Taking the concept of a traditional over-the-top-rope battle royal and sort of reversing it, Pat Patterson is generally credited with innovating the match. Two superstars start the match, and at regular intervals another joins the fray. There are no pins, no submissions, no DQs — but if you go over the top rope and both feet hit the floor, you’re eliminated.

To win a Royal Rumble is a testament to both strategy and, depending on your point of entry, stamina. Four superstars have earned a victory after starting the match as either the #1 or #2 entrant, while two others were among the first five entrants en route to victory.

But there’s always more to the Royal Rumble than the Rumbles themselves. There’s been plenty of memorable moments from championship bouts or grudge matches. Who can forget the Undertaker somehow escaping a casket and rising to the heavens after losing to WWF Champion Yokozuna in 1994? Or, in the same show, Owen Hart kicking his brother Bret’s leg out of his leg?

What’s in store this year at the Rumble? Per the official WWE website, here’s the full card for WWE Royal Rumble 2019:

For those keeping track at home, that’s a whopping seven championship matches, plus the two Royal Rumbles themselves. And in case you didn’t count the names signed up for the Rumbles, neither match has thirty announced participants yet. So there’s still some room for surprises, returns, and debuts.
