On Saturday night, NXT will bring us another exciting evening of in-ring action. But which wrestlers will leave Phoenix with big victories?
If there’s one word that best describes the current NXT product right now, it’s uncertainty.
That isn’t to say that the developmental promotion’s quality has dipped in any way; in fact, the weekly program has produced the same compelling weekly show that fans have come to expect. But the precariousness of the NXT roster in regards to the wrestler’s tenure on the show — particularly the ones at the top of the card — has led to one of the more fascinating TakeOver cards in recent memory.
Saturday’s NXT TakeOver Phoenix show at Talking Stick Resort Arena will tell us all we need to know about the direction Triple H and company want to go for the next several months.
We should learn whether there’s anything to the Tommaso Ciampa/Johnny Gargano alliance other than coincidence and circumstance. We should also learn whether Shayna Baszler and Aleister Black have immediate futures on the main roster.
But that’s not all! We’ll also see how ready Bianca Belair is to perform on such a big stage and we’ll see what the War Raiders and the Undisputed Era can put together without the creative team bridling them with an inconclusive finish.
Because of the uncertainty surrounding NXT’s makeup going forward, picking winners for these bouts won’t be easy, but that’s what I’m going to do.
