WWE: Becky Lynch Getting 5 New Shirts After Rumble Win Makes An Important Statement
The night after winning the WWE Royal Rumble, Becky Lynch appeared on Raw to confront Ronda Rousey and absolutely tore the roof off the place. With each passing week, Becky’s star power only increases, and her five new T-Shirts only cement the fact that she is the star of the show during WrestleMania season.
Whenever WWE has a potential rising star, wrestling fans become nervous, wondering how – not just if – the promotion will screw things up. But the opposite has happened with Becky Lynch, whose change in direction began with an attack on Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam and has culminated in several of the greatest moments in recent history. She beat Charlotte in a legendary Last Woman Standing match, owned Ronda Rousey while legitimately concussed, main evented TLC as the SmackDown Women’s Champion, upstaged John Cena, and won the Women’s Rumble.
Becky’s Rumble win, which featured two epic showdowns with Nia Jax and Charlotte, will enable her to face Rousey for the Raw Women’s Championship in the main event of WrestleMania. Whether or not Charlotte shares in this historic moment is a subject of much debate, but the fact that Becky is locked in to be one of the first women to main event ‘Mania a year after being an afterthought on the pre-show is quite the accomplishment.
WWE is doing its part to make sure the hype around Becky doesn’t slow down before WrestleMania season. Not only will she ether Stephanie McMahon on Raw in the same way that she’s owned everyone else who steps to her on the mic – Rousey in particular – but she recently received five new T-Shirts on the WWE Shop.
They’re literally all awesome, too. One of them even says WrestleMANia, denoting the fact that “The Man” is the centerpiece of WrestleMania 35. It’s a strong statement backing Becky, who receives by far the most thunderous pops, especially last week on Raw when she interrupted Rousey’s post-match celebration against an impressive Bayley.
The promotion clearly put effort into all five new T-Shirts for Becky, with the shirt of her holding the SmackDown Women’s Championship – the title she made prestigious – being arguably the best of the bunch. But the WrestleMANia shirt makes the strongest statement, and it confirms that all the previous fears about WWE cooling off on Becky (or whatever people were saying or are potentially still saying) were misguided (though understandable, given the usual conversations surrounding the company).
Lynch and Rousey are set for an all-timer at WrestleMania 35 in what should be one of the most significant matches in wrestling history. WWE knows what they have in Lynch, and anyone disputing this is ignoring the signs and the results. When Rousey and Lynch stood face-to-face in the ring on Raw, it was Rousey who was booed out of the building, with fans chanting “Becky! Becky! Becky!” even before The Man arrived. She is the wrestler they want to see the most.
And, yes, WWE has seen it, too, which should make wrestling fans excited for the events that could transpire at WrestleMania 35.
