The Feb. 5 edition of WWE SmackDown gave the blue brand more momentum heading into the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view in under two weeks with a few key developments.

Last night’s WWE SmackDown was a stellar show for in-ring action with a few noteworthy matches along the way, especially regarding the upcoming WWE Championship match inside the Elimination Chamber.

The women’s tag team title scene also got a nice boost last night along with the character development of The Man on the road to the biggest match of her career.  With that being said, let’s take a look at a few grades from the Feb. 5 edition of WWE SmackDown.

5. Opening Segment

Becky Lynch has been on an unprecedented wave of momentum over the past few months to the point where she has developed into the most popular superstar in the WWE.  The Man is bound for WrestleMania 35 and a huge matchup with Ronda Rousey, or is she?

After suffering a kayfabe injury in the Royal Rumble match, Lynch’s knee has not been 100 percent.  That was evident on Monday night when she couldn’t even apply the dis-arm-her to Stephanie McMahon.  Lynch’s stubbornness resulted in a temporary suspension until she gets cleared by a doctor, but that didn’t stop her from interrupting Charlotte Flair in last night’s opening segment.

Charlotte was as sarcastic as ever regarding Lynch’s status and The Queen said she would be the one to replace Lynch against Rousey at WrestleMania.  However, The Man came through the crowd to address Charlotte, and as expected, tempers flared with security trying to hold them back.  Then enter Triple H, who was not a happy camper.  Triple H told Charlotte to leave and was really upset with Lynch, who was not supposed to be there due to her suspension.

The Game gave The Man the ultimatum again, but she was as brash as ever asking The Game how Stephanie was after she punched her in the face.  Triple H then claimed that Lynch is scared to see the doctor because deep down inside her, she really doesn’t want to face Rousey because she’s scared of her.  Lynch then slapped The Game before a tense face-to-face followed by her walking back out through the crowd.  This was an action-packed way to kick off the show.

Everything involving The Man has been gold lately, and this segment was no exception with The Game and The Queen also getting involved.

Final Grade: A+
