Impact Wrestling: Taya Valkyrie Defeats Tessa Blanchard in Violent Street Fight

One of the most highly anticipated matches at Impact Wrestling Uncaged was the latest chapter in the heated rivalry between Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie and challenger Tessa Blanchard. Not only did the two square off with the title on the line, but they did so in a Street Fight that turned into an absolutely brutal contest.

The fight started quick at Impact Wrestling Uncaged, as Tessa Blanchard attacked Valkyrie on the ramp. As fast as it got rolling, the crowd was behind the champion just as quickly. Taya Valkyrie may be from Canada, but seven years working in Mexico has made “Wera Loca” one of the most beloved female competitors there.

That made it pretty clear that Valkyrie had the home field advantage at Impact Wrestling Uncaged from Mexico City as things got started, but Tessa Blanchard wasn’t going to let that get in the way of her drive to recapture the Knockouts Championship.

As Blanchard was down in the corner, Taya wedged a steel pan between her legs. Without a bit of hesitation, Valkyrie slammed a steel chair into it and forced the pan into the crotch of Blanchard. Neither woman was holding anything back.

Their heated rivalry has been going for months, hitting a peak at Impact Wrestling Homecoming where Taya Valkyrie avenged a few controversial losses by capturing the Knockouts Championship. Of course, Special Guest Referee Gail Kim played a role in that after Tessa Blanchard’s shoving of her crossed a line. Any questions about Taya Valkyrie’s worthiness as champion were dispelled in this match.

The violence seemed to heat up with every moment, finally culminating with Taya Valkyrie bringing a table into the mix. With Blanchard laid out on the table, the champion came off the top rope with a double foot stomp that drove Blanchard through the table and hard into the mat. A quick pinfall after, and “Wera Loca” left Mexico City as the Impact Knockouts Champion.

With Tessa Blanchard’s track record in trying to get back to the gold, this may not be the last we’ve seen of these two tangoing in Impact Wrestling. Their rivalry has arguably been one of the most heated women’s wrestling has seen in some time, and this match illustrated that with every single moment. Regardless of who comes at Taya Valkyrie next, they’ve got to know it won’t be easy to pry the title away from her.
