After declaring to Triple H on WWE Raw that he still intends to main event WrestleMania, could Drew McIntyre actually have a shot at being added to Seth Rollins versus Brock Lesnar?

If anyone could logically explain the reasoning behind the last few months of Drew McIntyre’s booking on WWE Raw to me, then I would be thoroughly impressed.

At first, it seemed like McIntyre was going to be pushed to the moon. He was instantly built as one of the most intimidating and threatening superstars on the entire roster.

I mean, just by looking at him, you can see why too. McIntyre is massive. Everything about him screams dangerous. He just looks like he’s ready to take someone’s freaking head off every night.

When he eventually split from Dolph Ziggler, it made sense. Sure, McIntyre picked up his first loss due to the angle, but it felt so easy to see that he was going to be propelled into the main event scene for good after the feud.

Unfortunately, that’s where everything starts to get a little hazy.

Since then, McIntyre has been in on and off feuds with Kurt Angle and John Cena while still being a part of the never-ending, mind numbing rivalry between Baron Corbin and Braun Strowman.

I suppose those are all high profile feuds, but they’ve been executed in such a scattershot manner that it’s becoming hard to say. Part of that has been due to matters outside of WWE’s control, especially in situations like the abruptly dropped John Cena rivalry.

Still, a large part of it has been the result of some terrible booking decisions as well.

McIntyre can’t seem to find a consistent direction on Raw now, and its starting to feel like it’s doing irreparable harm to his push.

There’s only so many times McIntyre can be expected to make a grandiose statement on how he’s going to annihilate someone, before we actually need to see some results in the form of a solid extended rivalry or title opportunity.

Hopefully, WWE understands how they’re on the verge of messing up an insanely talented star’s future as well, because they just had McIntyre give one more grand declaration on Raw.

“I want to main event WrestleMania,” growled McIntyre in part of a speech to Triple H. A lofty goal certainly, but one that seemed easily within reach for McIntyre just a few months ago.

Of course, instead of giving this statement any semblance of acknowledgement, WWE had Dean Ambrose interrupt the promo to mug to the camera and slap McIntyre. Naturally, this resulted in McIntyre completely ignoring his prior desire to get his hands on Seth Rollins to prove his main event value in order to fight Ambrose instead.

Luckily, McIntyre completely obliterated Ambrose in their match. Instead of feeling like another pointless rivalry in the making for McIntyre, this felt like a statement of intent.

At least, that’s what I hope it turns out being.

It’s not too late to give Drew McIntyre the kind of push he deserves for WrestleMania. We’re still one pay-per-view and over a month away from WWE’s biggest show of the year, meaning there’s plenty of time to right some of those wrongs WWE has committed with McIntyre’s booking.

In turn, that means there’s also plenty of time to add Drew McIntyre to Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship match at WrestleMania. There’s not any real reason why the match couldn’t become a triple threat, and McIntyre versus Lesnar just seems like the kind of confrontation meant for the big stage.

WWE doesn’t have to make Drew McIntyre’s latest potential storyline another abject waste of time. They have all the time they need to give McIntyre the WrestleMania main event level push he was already more than ready for just a few months ago.
