Going into tonight’s episode of WWE Raw in Atlanta, one of the biggest stories was an update from former WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. He revealed a fight with leukemia back in October, and promised news tonight about how that fight was going.

While many of us were optimistic about tonight’s news, few could have seen things going so well. When Roman Reigns revealed his diagnosis in October, there was an outpouring of support from his peers, fans, and even those who once loved to hate Roman Reigns.

In his absence, WWE Raw has certainly felt the void left by The Big Dog, but that void is officially going to be filled once again. In an emotional opening to WWE Raw, Roman Reigns thanked the crowd for their support before announcing his leukemia is officially back in remission.

Reigns received exactly the kind of reaction you’d expect for this news, as the crowd in Atlanta showered him with adoration. In his announcement back in October, Reigns talked about his desire to keep fighting. He stated he would “swing for the fences” in his continued fight with cancer, and tonight on WWE Raw he addressed that fight.

"“We didn’t just swing for the fences, we hit a home run.” – Roman Reigns"

After revealing his cancer to be in remission, Reigns made it clear that The Big Dog is officially back in WWE. Following this huge news, Roman Reigns will be a guest on Good Morning America tomorrow and we can expect him to address his return.

With WrestleMania 35 less than two months away, the timing of Roman’s return certainly indicates we could see him back in the ring at that monumental event. How exactly Roman could fit into that show is anyone’s guess.

Much of his placement will depend on how physically ready Roman Reigns is for a full-time touring schedule. While we know his cancer is in remission, it’s not clear how close to ring shape Roman is, and he’s the kind of competitor who will want to be at that peak before he’s near the top again.

The biggest possible spot for Roman would be somehow finding his way into the WWE Universal Championship match with Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar in a rematch from WrestleMania 31. Wherever he ends up, there’s no denying that it’s great to see The Big Dog back in WWE. Roman Reigns said that he’s missed the fans, and it’s clear they’ve missed him as well.
