Dean Ambrose may be on his way out from WWE, but Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are doing their best to keep their Shield brother by their side.

It’s been a tumultuous few months for The Shield, but the glue that holds one of WWE‘s greatest factions together, Roman Reigns, is back on television after kicking leukemia’s butt for a second time. Reigns’s top priority is “getting the band back together”, but it’s been harder to get on the same page with Dean Ambrose than with Seth Rollins.

In October on the night Reigns announced his battle with leukemia to the world, Ambrose heinously attacked Rollins, sending shockwaves across the WWE Universe. Rollins and Ambrose would feud over the Intercontinental Championship, competing in a match at TLC and a Falls Count Anywhere match on Raw afterwards.

Despite the rivalry and the bad blood between them, Ambrose has shown his support for Rollins lately, as “The Kingslayer” prepares for his Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35.

Still, WWE announced that Ambrose will leave the company in April when his contract runs out, and while it’s unclear what Dean’s future is, the former world champion’s future is being used as a storyline.

After Reigns tried to speak with Ambrose backstage and was rebuffed by Dean, who told “The Big Dog” that he wanted to focus on his match that night against Elias, he was approached by Rollins backstage.

And Rollins delivered this gem.

He called Ambrose his “wrestling soulmate”.

This came after Roman told Ambrose that Dean would always have a seat next to him, informing his detached friend that he can always count on Reigns if he wants to open up.

Reigns and Rollins then tried to convince Ambrose to team up with them after Ambrose lost to Elias, but Ambrose ran away into the crowd. Just then, Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre, and Bobby Lashley, riding high on confidence, all entered, presumably to use their numbers advantage on a seemingly disunited Shield.

But Ambrose is Rollins’s “wrestling soulmate”. They’ve accomplished so much, including Raw Tag Team Championship victories and some of the most heated rivalry matches in recent WWE history, and those words had to be ringing in Ambrose’s ears as he watched the heel trio close in on his brothers.

The brotherly love that Reigns and Rollins have for Ambrose would have to be reciprocated in the “City of Brotherly Love”. And as McIntyre, Lashley, and Corbin reigned blows on his best friends, Ambrose made a beeline into the ring to attack the heels, saving Reigns and Rollins as the Philadelphia crowd went WILD.

What a reunion.

There’s no doubt that The Shield are one of the most beloved groups in wrestling history, and the affection shown by all three members on this night was simply contagious. And when Ambrose, who paced around nervously in confusion at first, finally did the Shield fist-bump with Reigns and Rollins, the band was indeed back together on the Road to WrestleMania.
