United States Championship Fatal 4-Way Match: Samoa Joe (c) vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Andrade vs. R-Truth

The Raw Tag Team Championship Match may have been the most chaotic and the potential show stealer heading into WWE Fastlane, but that was before this match was even made. Originally, Andrade and Rey Mysterio were scheduled to square off on the Kickoff Show.

After a petition by Carmella on the WWE Fastlane Kickoff Show to get R-Truth a rematch for the title he lost was seemingly endorsed by the champion, things were changed during the Kickoff Show. Instead of the singles match between Rey and Andrade, a rematch from SmackDown Live was announced where Samoa Joe would defend his newly won title against Mysterio, Andrade, and R-Truth.

The only thing more spontaneous than the creation of this match was the moments in the match itself. Right from the start, Samoa Joe came flying to the outside and took out his opponents with a huge suicide dive to set the tone for things to come.

This trend continued as the match wore on, but one consistent story of the night was the increasingly personal issues between Andrade and Rey Mysterio. Time and time again, they seemed to be more interested in attacking each other than securing the victory.

We even saw Andrade pay homage to the late great Eddie Guerrero with a cocky rendition of Three Amigos. However, a moment to taunt before the third suplex allowed Rey Mysterio to slip out and almost roll up Andrade for the win. Hopefully these issues bode well for a big match between those two at WrestleMania.

As things heated up at the end, we also saw R-Truth channel his “childhood hero” John Cena. With shoulder tackles, a Protoplex, and a Five Knuckle Shuffle, Truth knocked off most of the “Five Moves of Doom.” Unfortunately, it didn’t help him get back his title.

After getting knocked to the outside, that left only Rey Mysterio and Samoa Joe in the ring. Rey went for a splash and was caught in a sudden Coquina Clutch. In the blink of an eye Rey Mysterio was unconscious and Samoa Joe retained his United States Championship at WWE Fastlane.
