Finn Balor defeated Bobby Lashley for the Intercontinental Championship at the WWE Elimination Chamber Pay Per View, but it didn’t take long for The Dominator to win it back.

The Road to WrestleMania 35 will be an interesting one for the Intercontinental Championship, because just when it seem like Finn Balor would for sure enter The Show of Shows as champ, Bobby Lashley won it back on the episode of WWE Raw after Fastlane.

Balor didn’t have an IC Title defense on a loaded up Fastlane card, but he did have to face Lashley in yet another one-on-one match between the two rivals on the following episode of Raw. And just when it seemed like Balor would win via a Coup de Grace, Lashley’s manager Lio Rush, who had recently been berated by The Dominator for costing him the title, rang the bell.

His actions confused everyone and distracted Balor. Though Finn got the better of Rush yet again, the distraction paid huge dividends. Balor attempted to do some serious damage to Lashley with a springboard crossbody, but Lashley countered it beautifully into a spear.

And just like that, Lashley is, once again, the Intercontinental Champion.

Rush has been an incredible manager for Lashley over the past several months, elevating The Dominator as a heel and proving instrumental in the former TNA/Impact star’s IC Title success. Lashley could very well be the champion at WrestleMania, providing Balor with a classic babyface story in what could potentially be a multi-man match with the odds stacked against him, and Rush has a lot to do with it.

As a whole, it’s been awesome to see Lashley find an important place on Raw as champion, but big things should also be ahead for Balor, who is one of the show’s top babyfaces. Given the finish to this match, this feud is far from over, and we could be headed for a WrestleMania moment for both men, especially since they’ve left plenty in the tank.

Balor’s initial win at the Elimination Chamber PPV set the wheels in motion for this rivalry, and the confrontations between Finn and the incredibly gifted Rush have been fantastic. Rush’s stroke of genius to win Lashley the title back on Raw in Pittsburgh must be praised greatly, too, because Rush has quickly become one of wrestling’s elite managers and an instrumental part of WWE’s weekly programming on both Raw and 205 Live.
