John Cena Posted An Old Kurt Angle Photo, So You Know It’s On

When Kurt Angle told the WWE Universe, in his hometown of Pittsburgh no less, that WrestleMania 35 would be his “Farewell” match, fans immediately started thinking of John Cena as his ideal retirement opponent.

There is a special level of history and respect between John Cena and Kurt Angle, who are two of the most decorated superstars in WWE history. Maybe more importantly for a “Farewell” match that would finalize Angle’s wrestling career, Cena made his debut against Angle, telling the Olympic gold medalist that the quality he possesses, “Ruthless Aggression”, would enable him to take on the “very best” that this industry has to offer.

That same quality would enable Cena to become the very best man in the wrestling business for a decade, winning 16 world championships along the way. It’s only a matter of time before Cena breaks Ric Flair’s illustrious record, but, until then, a “Farewell” match with Angle at WrestleMania 35 would be an excellent way for Cena, who has been busy putting over younger stars like Finn Balor, to get another signature win.

And since Cena posted an old photo of Angle on his Instagram page, it appears The Face That Runs The Place is well-aware that we’d like him to take on Angle one last time at this year’s ‘Mania.

Cena always picks the best photos, too, as this is an iconic portrait of a young Angle with the Olympic gold draped around his neck. This image of Angle in his youth at the peak of his amateur wrestling talent is a great pick, because for as many years have passed since that date, Angle remains that same fiery competitor. Angle vs. Cena would be the perfect way to wrap up the former’s career, and I am definitely #here for all of Cena’s not-so-subtle social media teases for the WWE Universe. There are plenty of great opponents for Angle at WrestleMania, but none of them would carry this much sentimental meaning as Cena.
