Kurt Angle is one of the most decorated wrestlers in WWE history, so, naturally, everyone wants to be the one to retire him at WrestleMania 35.

On the Mar. 18 episode of WWE Raw in Chicago, Kurt Angle will announce his opponent for his final match, which will take place at WrestleMania 35. Drew McIntyre, John Cena, and Baron Corbin are among the names speculated as Angle’s opponent, with Cena being a “full circle” type of match between two legends, given that Cena debuted his “Ruthless Aggression” against the Olympic gold medalist.

But, of course, so many more superstars in the locker room would like a chance at retiring Angle, and that includes both other legends like Cena and up-and-coming superstars.

One of those superstars is Matt Riddle, who is currently making a name for himself on the NXT brand as the “King of Bros”.

He’s not wrong. Though it would be highly unlikely for Riddle vs. Angle to happen at the “Show of Shows”, it would be an incredible match that would literally be once-in-a-lifetime. Riddle looks like a future mainstream star in WWE, even defeating wrestling legend Kassius Ohno in mere seconds at his TakeOver debut at WarGames 2 last year.

Another possible opponent for Angle that isn’t mentioned frequently enough? Shelton Benjamin, his former protege of sorts on “Team Angle”.

[Hat tip to Wrestling Inc.’s Robert Gunier for the story.]

Benjamin is technically a member of the SmackDown Live roster, but the WWE Universe saw him take Seth Rollins to “Suplex City” on the Mar. 11 episode of Raw in Pittsburgh. He did so at the behest of Paul Heyman, who likely called upon Benjamin as a fellow member of the “Minnesota Stretching Crew” to do Universal Champion Brock Lesnar – Rollins’ WrestleMania opponent – a favor.

There’s no doubt that Benjamin still has it in the ring, too. He put on a solid match with Rollins, pinned current WWE Champion Daniel Bryan last fall, and previously put on some tag team clinics with Chad Gable as his partner in matches against vaunted tag teams like The Usos.

Next. Apollo Crews should win his first title in 2019. dark

Though Cena vs. Angle and Cena vs. McIntyre seem like the most likely matches, it’s always fun to contemplate some “What if?” battles, such as Riddle vs. Angle or Benjamin vs. Angle. Plus, it’s awesome seeing wrestlers promote themselves more aggressively on their social media pages with fun call-outs and scenarios like these.
