“A Moment of Bliss” with Braun Strowman, Colin Jost, and Michael Che

We then got the continuation of the issues between Braun Strowman and SNL’s Colin Jost and Michael Che. Alexa Bliss was out first speaking to Strowman, and The Monster Among Men was clear about wanting to “smash [Colin’s] pasty face.” Bliss tried to regain some composure, then turning to the entrance screen where we saw SNL’s Colin Jost and Michael Che live via satellite.

Jost and Che tried fix things, but Colin Jost quickly made things worse. First, he put on a Yankees cap while being beamed to a live crowd in Boston. He then followed it up by demanding Braun Strowman pay for the car he destroyed, plus interest, and get Colin Jost an autograph from his “favorite superstar Brock Lesnar.”

Braun Strowman wasn’t exactly happy about this, and brought up Michael Che’s recent Instagram post suggesting things be solved between them emotionally, financially, or “physically.” Strowman proposed they choose option three and that Colin Jost should join the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, saying that if they didn’t then Strowman would just attack them backstage.

Michael Che seemed happy to dodge the bullet of being ambushed backstage, and said Jost accepted and would join the main. Jost responded by saying Michael Che, being a huge WWE fan, would also be in the match. Strowman turned to Alexa Bliss and asked if she could make it official. Bliss feigned like she couldn’t for a moment, which let Jost and Che breathe a false sigh of relief, before Bliss did confirm she would make it official and enter them in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.

Grade: A+, For a celebrity segment leading to a match that’s become an afterthought most years, this was actually really great. Michael Che and Colin Jost are naturally just right for live work, and were hilarious as ever. Their inclusion in the Andre Battle Royal will be ridiculous, and probably hilarious as well. WWE has had lots of bad celebrity segments and celebrity matches at WrestleMania, but this might not be one of them.

Baron Corbin vs. Apollo Crews

Next up on WWE Raw we had a short but fun singles match featuring “Boston’s Favorite Son” (as he was announced) Baron Corbin taking on Apollo Crews. Before the match, Corbin got on the mic and berated the crowd for whining about him being Kurt Angle’s opponent at WrestleMania 35, even saying he’ll be the new “Olympic Gold Medalist” after he defeats Angle at WrestleMania.

As the match got underway, Baron Corbin was as cocky as ever, but Crews took control several times and looked close to victory when he nailed a fantastic frog splash off the top.

Despite that, Corbin regained control and it didn’t take long for him to hit End of Days to finish off Crews for a pinfall victory. It gives Corbin a little bit of momentum headed towards WrestleMania 35, but not a ton considering Crews also recently lost to Kurt Angle.

Grade: B, A decent match that didn’t seem to do much overall. Actually, Corbin’s over-the-top introduction before the match probably did more to hype WrestleMania than the match itself.
