WWE: Hopefully Becky Lynch’s reported new contract values her at the top
Becky Lynch has become the biggest star in WWE over the past several months, and she’s set to headline WrestleMania 35 with Charlotte Flair and Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey. She’s also reportedly expected to sign a new, multi-year deal with the pro wrestling juggernaut.
Since betraying Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam 2018, Becky Lynch has become THE talk of the professional wrestling business, and the WWE Universe fully expects her to receive her crowning moment at WrestleMania 35. She, Charlotte, and Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey are officially closing “The Show of Shows”, and it’s news that came as no surprise to a fanbase that has been waiting a long time for the first women’s main event at WrestleMania.
According to a report from Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin, that’s not the only good news for Becky Lynch and her legion of adoring fans. Per multiple sources close to Satin, WWE has offered Becky a new, multi-year contract offer that will, of course, give her a pay “raise”, and the expectation is that Becky will sign the contract shortly.
Given that there’s a huge gender pay gap in WWE, just like with any other industry in sports and entertainment, Lynch signing a new contract is huge news. Hopefully it pays her right there with the other top stars in the company, because she is every bit as good as a John Cena, Roman Reigns, or Seth Rollins. Plus, Becky has shown that she can move the needle, as her Pop Figure is the top seller and she’s sold out Axxess in seconds.
Becky has helped change the game in a profound way for women in WWE, and every month she reaches new heights. Few wrestlers are on her level as a character, as her tireless social media promotion and wonderful promos have earned her the admiration of many fans. There are countless young women who look up to Becky as an inspirational figure, and I can only hope WWE are compensating her appropriately as one of their truly elite superstars.

The news of this contract is certainly a positive, and the WWE Universe will be looking for more magical moments from Lynch in the years to come. And with so many other great wrestlers on the roster like Sasha Banks, Bianca Belair, Asuka, Bayley, Kairi Sane, and Alexa Bliss, Becky has hopefully opened the door for another woman to become a breakout star with this type of crossover appeal to the mainstream.
