While Rey Mysterio will face Samoa Joe at WWE WrestleMania 35 and Andrade is announced for the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, the two familiar foes will square off once again on SmackDown Live this week.

WWE appears to be pulling out all the stops for the men on the go-home episode of SmackDown Live before WrestleMania 35. Not only will there be a contract signing for the highly-anticipated WWE Championship match between Kofi Kingston and Daniel Bryan, where Vince McMahon will likely make one more attempt to intervene, and a face-off between Randy Orton and AJ Styles on “The Kevin Owens Show”, Rey Mysterio and Andrade will have one final match before The Show of Shows on Apr. 7.

The announcement was made official by WWE on their website, and wrestling fans should always be excited for another televised encounter between these two stars. Andrade has spoke about idolizing Mysterio growing up, and he boasts a win over Rey in singles competition. However, their 2 out of 3 falls match, which was meant to be the rubber match, ended in a “no contest” when Samoa Joe interfered with the match tied at one fall apiece.

Since Zelina Vega appears in the advertisement for the match and won’t be banned from ringside, like she was for the draw in their 2 out of 3 falls match, the advantage figures to go to Andrade. But Rey does need some momentum before facing off against the ruthless Samoa Joe, who is probably even more upset than usual after suffering a roll-up defeat to Kurt Angle on the latter’s “Farewell Tour”.

There’s always a chance Andrade wins and gets inserted into the WrestleMania match for another multi-man bout involving Joe, Mysterio, and Andrade for the United States Championship. Andrade is a favorite to win the Andre Giant Memorial Battle Royal, but the former NXT Champion and possible Money in the Bank 2019 winner seems a little too talented to be in that match. Still, Jinder Mahal was a runner-up in the battle royal before winning his first WWE Championship, so being too upset about this isn’t productive.

And when it comes to the April 2 episode of SmackDown Live, the WWE Universe should be beyond excited for the opportunity to see Andrade and Rey Mysterio tear the house down one more time against each other. These are two of the best minds and athletes in the wrestling business, and when they step into the ring, they create magic. This match should be no different.
