Eight-Man Tag Team Match: The Usos, Ricochet, and Aleister Black vs. The Bar, Rusev, and Shinsuke Nakamura
Next up we got a taste of the tag team division on SmackDown Live with a massive eight-man tag team match. Ricochet and Aleister Black, fresh off a failed attempt at capturing the Raw Tag Team Titles, teamed up with The Usos to take on the quartet of The Bar, Rusev, and Shinsuke Nakamura.
Things started off quick with some back and forth between Cesaro and Ricochet, but it was The Swiss Cyborg who took control with a stiff uppercut. He tagged in Sheamus, who tried but failed to keep Ricochet from tagging in Aleister Black a few moments later. Black hit a flurry of strikes, bringing Jey Uso into the fray soon after.
At this point The Usos and company were rolling, but a tag that brought Rusev into the mix turned the tide. Jey Uso was sent to the outside and subsequently driven into the steel steps and a nearby barricade. From that point, Jey Uso was progressively isolated and worn down by his opponents.
After a commercial break, we saw Jey Uso fighting his way to finally make an important tag to Jimmy Uso. With Jimmy in, he went to work with a quick superkick on Rusev. Things broke down and we saw Black and Ricochet taking out some of the opponents, finally leaving Rusev isolated. Jimmy and Jey exchanged quick tags that led to a double superkick on Rusev to pick up the win for their team.
Immediately after the match, we got an appearance from the Host of WrestleMania 35, Alexa Bliss. After some brief comments about not being thrilled to be back on SmackDown, Bliss stated she was there to give repercussions for The Usos’ decision to forfeit in the tag team gauntlet last week. Bliss announced that The Usos will defend the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 35 in a Fatal 4-Way against The Bar, Rusev & Shinsuke Nakamura, and Aleister Black & Ricochet.
Grade: A, This was great for an eight-man tag, and led to a good appearance by Bliss to announce the Fatal 4-Way. It’s a shame this match didn’t have more time for fans to get excited for it, but I’m sure it’ll be a great clash on Sunday.
The IIconics want to make WrestleMania IIconic
Next up on SmackDown Live, we saw an appearance by The IIconics. They took to the ring and first commented on the news that the SmackDown Tag Team Titles will be defended in a Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match before segueing into talking about their own Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match at WrestleMania 35.
The IIconics were happy to bring up the different possibilities at WrestleMania 35, as the champions do not have to be pinned for the titles to change hands. As they explained, they could pin Natalya, or Beth Phoenix, or Nia Jax and Tamina who they stated would deserve as much for abandoning them on WWE Raw. Finally, they mentioned they could definitely pin The Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection, who they defeated to earn this opportunity, and that any of those outcomes would make WrestleMania “IIconic.”
Grade: A, The IIconics in great heel form here with a lot of good points that makes it clear how important WrestleMania 35 is for them and how excited they are for it.
