Seth Rollins had a heart-warming response to the Dean Ambrose rumors
Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have one of wrestling’s purest friendships, but with Ambrose said to be one the way out of WWE, The Shield will be missing a vital piece.
At WrestleMania 35, Seth Rollins must conquer “The Beast” Brock Lesnar in a match that will decide whether or not Monday Night Raw remains held hostage by the laziest part-time champion possible. There are fears that Rollins could lose the Universal Championship match to Lesnar, who defeated Roman Reigns in last year’s poorly-received main event, but the WWE Universe largely remains optimistic that the fan favorite can win his first Universal Title.
Another aspect of The Shield’s story at WrestleMania is Dean Ambrose’s presence. While Rollins has a huge match against Lesnar and Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre, two future Universal Champion favorites, are set to collide, Ambrose doesn’t have a match at the “Show of Shows”. WWE made an official statement that Ambrose is indeed on his way out of the company, so it makes sense for him to not have a high-profile spot on the WrestleMania card.
In an interview with Cathy Kelley for WWE Now, Rollins spoke about Ambrose’s potential departure, and I swear someone was cutting onions while I was reading this quote (via Fightful.com’s Jeremy Lambert):
"“I know how he feels about his creativity and when it pulls him in a different direction, that’s how he’s gotta be. I never imagined the three of us working anywhere else or not being here. It’s gonna be weird to come into the locker room and he’s not there and knowing he’s not coming back anytime soon. It tugs on my heartstrings but I support him in whatever decision he’s gonna make.”"
Ambrose has always been under-appreciated by both the company and the majority of fans. For years, he’s put his body on the line, every single night, for the WWE Universe, and it nearly killed him; he was infected with MRSA while rehabbing from a torn triceps in 2018.
The WWE Universe will surely miss Ambrose, if he is indeed on the way out, but I can’t imagine how much his friends and colleagues will miss working with him. There will be an empty spot in the locker room with Ambrose gone, and The Shield just won’t be the same without him.
