John Cena

The WWE Universe wanted John Cena to face Kurt Angle in the latter’s “Farewell Match” at WWE WrestleMania 35, but, alas, it doesn’t seem like Cena has any match scheduled this year. Perhaps he’ll make a cameo appearance at some point, but wrestling fans have been holding out hope for a surprise match for Cena.

Perhaps that match could be against Samoa Joe. Wrestling fans have been wanting to see these two go at it for years, and those hopes have only increased since Joe joined the main roster in early 2016 as Triple H’s mercenary.

Since then, Joe has come into his own, and while he’s lost world title opportunities to Brock Lesnar and AJ Styles, he’s the United States Champion now and could use it as a springboard to even bigger things in WWE.

Cena’s had several high profile US Title matches in his career, including one at WrestleMania against Rusev. He and Samoa Joe could work magic together on Sunday if Cena were to get the call, and while this is an unlikely option, it’s one the WWE Universe will keep in mind in case Rey Mysterio is unavailable due to the ankle injury.

I mean, could you imagine Cena in the Coquina Clutch with all the fans at MetLife on the edge of their seats? Could you imagine the reactions if Joe pulled off the win? It might not make sense for Cena to be in a US Title match, but with the way he’s been putting over up-and-coming stars, it wouldn’t be that shocking.
