NXT TakeOver: New York Match Predictions

Remember that scene in The Dark Knight Rises when Batman returns on his Batcycle and one of the cops who saw him zip by turned to his partner and with a slight grin on his face said, “Oh boy, you are in for a show tonight son!”? Well, that doesn’t come close to describing my reaction to the announcement of this match. Actually, it more closely resembled this.

Now, anyone who has kept close tabs NXT UK or at least watched NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool knew this match was happening at some point and if this dream match doesn’t turn you into the physical embodiment of a Pointer Sisters song, then that’s fine; wrestling is a form of art which, for the most part, is subjective.

But mark my words, Pete Dunne and WALTER will win you over once the bell rings. These are two of the best wrestlers walking this earth and if they get enough time to tell their story, they will have no problem keeping the audience enthralled with a healthy dose of strikes and chain wrestling.

Dunne has been United Kingdom Champion for nearly 700 days — an accolade that WWE would make a much bigger deal out of if Dunne was on the main roster — so there’s a good chance that the writers may wait until he clears that hurdle before taking the title off of him.

But the Austrian big man has received a pitch-perfect push since debuting in January and the endgame of that buildup appears to be U.K. Title win. There’s a good chance that title change happens in New York.

Prediction: WALTER pins Pete Dunne, wins the WWE United Kingdom Championship
