After months of getting screwed out of the title and most importantly, after an 11 year journey, Kofi Kingston won the WWE Championship at WWE WrestleMania 35.

Many of us doubted it would ever happen. Even if we knew for sure it would happen, we still had our fingers crossed that a WWE Championship win for Kofi Kingston at WWE WrestleMania 35 would still be written in stone. To see it finally happen in real motion is wholly satisfying.

Personally, I’ve never been more satisfied in watching wrestling in my life than I did in watching Kofi Kingston hold that WWE Championship – the newly christened belt with “KOFI” on the side plates, I might add – above his head.

I’ve been watching wrestling on and off for a little over 12 years now. I’ve written about wrestling for a couple years now. Nothing made me happier – nothing struck more of an emotional cord than hearing Kofi get that three count.

His 11-year run with WWE aside, these last couple months of WWE television for the Kofi vs. Authority/Daniel Bryan storyline has had me emotionally invested like no other wrestling angle has. Few wrestling storylines have had me invested in the same way as this one has. I’ve written countless articles on the matter by now, but the summarize it all, so much care and attention was given to this storyline. So many layers added to storyline as a whole and it was terrific to see in real time.

From start to finish, the angle – and the WrestleMania match itself for that matter – had me on an emotional rollercoaster ride. This storyline has had me delighted, surprised, angry, sad, etc. Just for making me feel, I’d say this was a perfect storyline and now, I can say we were given a perfect finish.

Kofi Kingston was given an unbelievable underdog story as a guy who was never supposed to reach the promise land. Now, we’re drying our eyes seeing him hold his two kids and his new WWE Championship above his head.

I honestly can’t think of a sight in wrestling that may have been nearly as satisfying, at least for me. Satisfying as a fan watching Kofi’s journey these past few months. Satisfying as a long time viewer who recalls seeing Kofi’s WWE debut live on ECW TV. Satisfying as a black man seeing someone who looks like him reach the promise land. Just satisfying. Absolutely satisfying. Brought a tear to my eye. I can’t say that for many matches/storylines. Or any, for that matter.
