WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal
The next match was the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal, and the chaos of it was clear as many superstars made their way to the ring for the action. Only Asuka and Naomi got full entrances. Nikki Cross got the action rolling with her traditional insanity, but we saw great moments from several superstars. Maria Kanellis was the first woman eliminated, followed by NXT’s Candice LeRae.
The early parts of the match were a bit messy, as there were so many superstars trying to get their hits in and get an upperhand. We saw the elimination of Nikki Cross, Lana, and Ember Moon soon after. NXT’s Kairi Sane got some moments in, looking for her signature InSane Elbow, but we soon saw the continuing rise of The Riott Squad.
The trio really started to take control, eliminating Kairi Sane, but it was their targeting of Dana Brooke that backfired. Brooke was getting heavy support from the crowd and was able to eliminate Ruby Riott. After some moments from Zelina Vega, she found herself eliminated by Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. That Fire ‘n’ Desire combo followed suit by eliminating Dana Brooke, much to the disdain of the crowd.
We saw some fighting on the apron that saw Mickie James eliminate Mandy Rose only to be knocked out by Sonya Deville. This looked to leave only three women, Sonya Deville, Asuka, and Sarah Logan. It was Deville who was first out, and Sarah Logan shockingly eliminated Asuka and looked to be a surprise winner. However, Carmella had been hiding outside of the ring. She slipped in, and after some struggle was able to eliminate Logan to pick up the win in the second annual WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal.
Grade: A-, There was some messiness early on, but this match really built up to a great ending. Sarah Logan and Dana Brooke had looked very strong, and Carmella embraced her win-at-all-costs strategy to emerge as the victor.
