There wasn’t a whole lot of hype or expectations going into WWE WrestleMania 35 for the SmackDown Tag Team Fatal Four Way match. Simply because it’s impossible to get hype for a match made five days before the big show.

However, all four tag teams involved in the WWE WrestleMania 35 match – Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura, Ricochet and Aleister Black, The Bar and The Usos – used the lack of expectations to their advantage. With just over 10 minutes worth of air time, all four times collided in nearly nonstop high octane action.

The Bar gave the crowd what was potentially the best, most beloved spot of the match with simultaneous swings and Beats of the Bodhrán. Rusev and Shinsuke made a believable play for the titles despite no one believing a thrown together team could win the titles; there were a couple moments where it felt like they could win it all. Black Ric proved why even as newcomers, they belong on the big stage. Meanwhile, The Usos reminded us all why they’ve dominated WWE’s tag division for so many years.

Altogether, all four teams razzled and dazzled in what many critics and fans are already calling the best match of the night so far just an hour into the show. The SmackDown tag team division have often been slept on, but they proved tonight why they are a consistent highlight of the blue brand.

When it was all said and done and the dust settled, The Usos managed to retain their SmackDown Tag Team Championship following a double Uso Splash on Sheamus.

More significantly, The Usos have finally garnered a win on the WrestleMania main card.

Let’s wind the clocks back to a year ago, when The Usos cut a promo talking about how they were sick of always getting on the Mania Kickoff show. For once, they wanted to not only make the main card, but win a match. Well, they made it to the main card and got squashed by The Bludgeon Brothers.

Fast forward to a year later and they finally got the win they earned after defining the WWE tag team division for nearly a decade.

It’s safe to say that the SmackDown tag team division is in good hands.
