WrestleMania XXX: Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton vs. Batista (Triple Threat Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

WrestleMania XXX was memorable for a lot of reasons. Hulk Hogan, The Rock, and Stone Cold Steve Austin stood together in the ring to open the show. Brock Lesnar conquered The Undertaker’s undefeated streak. And the undeniable coronation of Daniel Bryan as WWE World Heavyweight Champion finally took place.

Daniel Bryan had to earn his way into this match by defeating Triple H in the opening match of the show, a classic encounter in its own right. By the end of the night when this match took place, Bryan was tired and beaten up.

Randy Orton was the chosen corporate champion and Batista was the returning conqueror, who had won the Royal Rumble before turning his back on the fans due to their rejection of him in favor of the insurgent rise of Bryan.

The deck was stacked against Bryan, as Triple H interfered, pulling the official out of the ring in order to prevent the match from ending while Orton was locked in the Yes Lock. Bryan fought back, however, using Triple H’s sledgehammer against him.

Fans sat in stunned silence as Orton and Batista sent Bryan through the Spanish announce table with a combination Batista Bomb/RKO that led to Bryan’s being stretchered out. Before he could be carted out of the building, however, Bryan returned.

In the closing moments, Bryan hit Batista with hs running knee before trapping him in the Yes Lock to give a happy ending to one of wrestling’s finest feel-good stories.

There has not been a more iconic ending to a WrestleMania in recent memory. WWE did everything right on this night and Bryan’s win will live on forever.
