WrestleMania 34: Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle vs. Stephanie McMahon and Triple H

Ronda Rousey took to professional wrestling like a fish to water. While the rumored partnership with The Rock never came to fruition, Kurt Angle could hardly be called a poor consolation prize, as the duo took on WWE’s evil overlords, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

Rousey’s professional wrestling debut came with some uncertainty, with many raising doubts about whether she would be able to have a worthy debut at WrestleMania of all places. She more than delivered, however, putting on a highly entertaining (though highly choreographed) performance.

Memorable spots included a double intergender submission tease, with Angle locking Stephanie in the Angle Lock, while Rousey put Triple H in her patented armbar, as well as Rousey impressively managing to lift The Game on her shoulders to perform the Samoan drop variation that we now call Piper’s Pit.

Ultimately, it was Stephanie who tapped out to an absolutely brutal looking armbar, bringing an end to what was, without question, one of the best and most memorable debuts in recent memory. In one match, Rousey cemented herself as a force to be reckoned with and signaled that a new era had begun in WWE’s Women’s division.

Ronda Rousey’s ability to translate her MMA charisma and presence to the WWE ring at the biggest show of the year with no professional wrestling experience cements her debut as the finest match from WrestleMania 34.
