Kofi Kingston vs. Seth Rollins, Winner Take All
I am hyperventilating into a bag right now. Inspired by Becky Lynch’s main event win at WrestleMania 35, Kofi Kingston challenged Seth Rollins to a “Winner Take All” match tonight on the WWE Raw after WrestleMania, putting his WWE Championship on the line against Rollins’ Universal Championship.
And Seth accepted.
I’m thinking we get interference from, say, Drew McIntyre or even the Undisputed Era, but let’s wait and see what happens. Hopefully, both Kofi and Seth keep their titles after an amazing match, because they should be champs and had two feel-good moments at WrestleMania last night.
Kingston and Rollins lock up to start the match, with Kofi going for Rollins’s left arm. Rollins, however, quickly found a way out, grounding Kingston with a side headlock.
Both Kingston and Rollins went for early signatures and finishers, with Kingston rolling out of the way when “The Beast Slayer” teased The Stomp. Stalemate in this high-stakes matchup as we head into the break.
Rollins, after getting a nearfall, teased The Stomp again, but Kofi caught him mid-air for a two-count on the roll-up. Kingston then hit an electric DDT for a two-count of his own, and this match felt WIDE open.
Just as Kingston was about to capitalize on Rollins crashing and burning on the outside, he was attacked on the top rope by none other than Sheamus and Cesaro!
The Bar still hold a grudge against Kingston, ruining a match between Rollins and Kofi for all the marbles.
Pissed off, Rollins challenges The Bar to a tag match against he and Kingston, and Sheamus nad Cesaro were very much interested.
Kofi Kingston and Seth Rollins vs. The Bar
The crowd gave a “BS” chant to the change in plans, but we’ve seen great wrestling win the crowd over. These four men are great wrestlers, so I’ll give them a chance despite the disappointment. I’m sure many fans were hoping for a longer match or for the Undisputed Era.
Sheamus and Cesaro were beating down Rollins as the crowd roared in anger, but Rollins began fighting back, chopping Sheamus a few times before sending the Celtic Warrior into the ring post. Kingston begged for the hot tag, got it, and started going right at Sheamus.
He got the crowd back into it and hit SOS before Cesaro saved the matchup for his tag partners. Kingston then dumped Cesaro and Sheamus to the outside, ascended the top rope, and was CAUGHT on the Trust Fall…
But Rollins saved him with a Suicide Dive!
Kingston picked it back up again no the top rope, getting a nearfall on Sheamus with a towering crossbody.
Sheamus nearly put Kingston away by kneeing him after Cesaro’s cheap move, and The Bar moved in with a deadly double-team move on Kingston. Thankfully for the WWE Champion, Rollins crashed the party, saving the matchup.
Rollins superkicked Sheamus and drove him into the ring post, all the while Cesaro went for The Neutralizer before attempting a swing.
Kingston NEARLY beat Cesaro with a wonderful counter into a roll-up!
Then, both Kingston and Rollins hit their finishers, and Rollins pinned Cesaro after The Stomp.
Grade: C, WWE booked themselves in a weird spot with a “Winner Takes All” match, but this was a solid tag match. Kofi Kingston truly is one of WWE’s best right now, and both he and Seth Rollins have been at that level for quite some time.
