The Usos (c) vs. The Hardy Boyz for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships

Result: The Hardy Boyz are the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions

This is it! The WrestleMania dream-match we were hoping for on the WWE SmackDown after ‘Mania! For the first time ever, The Usos and The Hardy Boyz collide, and it will be for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. Corey Graves is already picking Matt and Jeff Hardy to bag the win, but I’m never going to pick against Jimmy and Jey Uso unless I truly have to. Nevertheless, this should be awesome!

Matt Hardy got the crowd fired up as he dropped the elbow from the middle rope, and the Hardyz were in control of The Usos. Matt was in vintage form, until a Samoan Drop turned the tides of the match.

During the match, Byron Saxton puts over the fact that The Usos looked up to the Hardyz as kids, and this is a huge chance for them to beat their idols in a title match.

After the break, Jey Uso hit an enziguri on Jeff Hardy before tagging in Jimmy, who  started using his speed to get the better of Jeff. But Jeff scouted a top rope move from Jimmy and hit Whisper in the Wind for a two-count.

Matt tagged in for some vintage offense, as the Hardyz hit Poetry in Motion before Matt got a two-count on Jimmy with a “Side Effect”.

Jey countered a Twist of Fate into a superkick, kicked out of a roll-up, and then superkicked Jeff. But Jeff kicked out of Jey’s splash!

Jimmy and Jey then went to opposite sides of the ring for a “Double Uce”, but Matt wasted enough time to cause The Usos to crash and burn. A Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb later, and we have new tag team champions! Second year in a row where Jeff has won a title after WrestleMania!

And now that The Usos are no longer champs after a successful WrestleMania title defense, it seems like they’ll be bound for Raw for the first time since the brand split. They’e been a huge part of SmackDown, but I’ll be excited for them on Raw.

Before Kayla Braxton can interview The Hardyz about their win…the scream hits.

Lars Sullivan is here, one night after debuting to take out Kurt Angle.

And Lars threw both tag champs to the canvas, screaming to a chorus of boos from the WWE Universe. He wasn’t done yet, headbutting Matt to make another big statement on the rest of the roster.

Grade: A-, A fun match and a surprise win. Lars’s interference was well-done. It also seems like The Usos are headed for Raw, which could be a big positive for that tag division.
