Aleister Black

The new NXT call-ups have made appearances on Raw and SmackDown interchangeably, and they’ll likely find permanent homes during the Superstar Shakeup in Montreal. Aleister Black and Ricochet have received opportunities at all three tag titles over the past month, including a match against the SmackDown Tag Team Champions at WrestleMania 35.

Though Black and Ricochet quickly became one of the best tag teams in WWE, dazzling the NXT Universe at TakeOver: New York with their match against War Raiders, they have far more potential as singles competitors.

It’s only a matter of time before Aleister Black branches off on his own, and WWE would be wise to give him an opportunity to prove himself against a wrestler of Seth Rollins’ caliber.

Both Black and Rollins are elite athletes, and Black has shown in the past that he can shine as a champion. His NXT Championship match against Andrade “Cien” Almas was a wonderful crowning moment, and he had an even better match months later against Johnny “TakeOver” Gargano.

Black vs. Rollins could also be an instant classic and a huge “get over” match for a man Mauro Ranallo dubbed “The Mercurial One”. Though Black’s first title in WWE will likely be a mid-card championship like the Intercontinental Title, there’s no shame in losing to “The Stomp” on an episode of Monday Night Rollins.
