John Cena vs. Roman Reigns

Two of the biggest stars in WWE, John Cena vs. Roman Reigns would definitely be a worthy headliner in Tampa next year. Cena and Reigns collided once before at No Mercy 2017, with Reigns winning after taking every single shot Cena threw at him. It was a “passing of the torch” match for Reigns, who was put to the test in promos, eventually passing after taking some tough lumps from the ruthlessly aggressive 16-time champion.

Reigns would eventually defeat Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam 2018 after taking a beating from Lesnar at WrestleMania 34, and he stands as WWE’s top male, full-time star today.

But after taking a break from wrestling at WrestleMania 35, Cena will be hungry for a big match in Tampa. He lost to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 34 and appeared as the Dr. of Thuganomics in a nostalgia-inducing ‘Mania 35 appearance, but Cena is still in hot pursuit of his record-breaking 17th. It’s a title he’ll surely win, and it’s possible he could head into WWE WrestleMania 36 as champion before dropping the title to Reigns in a more official “passing of the torch” match.

When Cena lost to Reigns in 2017, he went on something of a mid-life crisis, desperately trying to secure a match at WrestleMania 34 before falling short a number of times, including at the Elimination Chamber. The lasting image of that match was of the chamber door closing behind Cena, with the legend looking completely defeated.

A fire will be ignited in Cena soon, and he and Reigns can bring out the absolute best in each other. This has a chance to be a classic and a better spectacle than their match at No Mercy.
