This year’s WWE Superstar Shake-Up is just days away, and there are lots of names people are hoping to see jump ship to the other brand. However, there’s one name that’s already in the right spot and shouldn’t go anywhere: Roman Reigns.

This Monday and Tuesday, we’ll see the 2019 WWE Superstar Shake-Up take place across both WWE Raw and SmackDown Live. Several superstars will jump ship to the other brand and get the chance at a fresh start. The names that look like perfect picks to change brands were plentiful, with suggestions from The Revival to Sasha Banks, but Roman Reigns is exactly where he needs to be.

The Big Dog is the prime example of someone in WWE who doesn’t need a fresh start or a change of scenery. Roman Reigns needs to stay on WWE Raw, and these three reasons outline exactly why.

1. Keep Watch on His Yard

Just over two years ago, we saw Roman Reigns defeat The Undertaker in a brutal No Holds Barred Match at WrestleMania 33. The next night, Reigns made his way to the ring and was utterly despised by every single fan in the arena. It seemed the fans wouldn’t stop booing long enough for him to talk, but Roman finally uttered five simple words: “This is my yard now.”

The crowd wasn’t on board, but it didn’t matter. The Big Dog had toppled a legend in the main event of WrestleMania, and a legend who often referred to the ring as “his yard.” Since then, Reigns took control of that phrase and has become the in-ring and locker room leader that WWE Raw has needed.

When he finally toppled Brock Lesnar to become Universal Champion, it felt like the hard-fought culmination of Reigns truly taking control so he could lead the brand he called “his yard.” Unfortunately, it was revealed that Reigns was suffering from leukemia and the disease had returned. He had to relinquish the title and leave to fight the disease, leaving his future in question.

Less than two months ago, the world was floored as Roman Reigns returned to WWE Raw and revealed he had sent leukemia back into remission and was back in WWE as of that moment. Those first weeks were rough, as Reigns found himself ambushed by “The Scottish Psychopath” Drew McIntyre, but The Big Dog got his revenge by vanquishing McIntyre at WrestleMania 35.

Now, having toppled McIntyre and reclaimed his yard, Roman Reigns has the chance to guard it as he likely hoped to as Universal Champion. Even without a title, Reigns can be a staple of WWE Raw, and anchor the brand both in the ring and in the locker room to be sure it continues to go down the right path.
