April 29: Wrestling Hi no Kuni

Building from their NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Title match on April 22, the Guerrillas of Destiny will defend their IWGP Tag Team Titles against the team of Toru Yano and Togi Makabe. In the second defense for GoD, the duo will look to physically reclaim the belts Yano stole in New York City.

At G1 Supercard, GoD were successful in a four-way match against the Los Ingobernables de Japon pair of EVIL and SANADA, The Briscoes, and the ROH World Tag Team Champions PCO and Brody King. With all titles on the line, GoD walked out as dual champions across two different companies.

While Tama Tonga has made it clear that he doesn’t care about the ROH World Tag Team Titles, it’s more than obvious that the Bullet Club team want nothing more than to feel the IWGP Tag Team Titles in their hands once again. With a tumultuous start to their fifth reign as champions, Tonga and Loa are going to be looking to smooth things out ahead of this summer’s G1 Climax.

In a battle for pride more than anything else, former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Jay White will tangle with CHAOS mainstay Hirooki Goto. White, sporting the start of a goatee and demonstrating a more frustrated, and perhaps depressed, demeanor may be transitioning into a more volatile version of the Switchblade. As we all know, the growth of facial hair signifies the awakening of new and untold evils in a person.

White’s struggle throughout this tour will be to regain the confidence stripped from him by losing the IWGP Heavyweight Title to longtime rival Kazuchika Okada at G1 Supercard. While a future shot at the championship is not yet in sight for White, he could parlay a successful tour into momentum for the G1 Climax. We could be on the brink of a Switchblade redemption story capped off with a rematch with Okada in the Tokyo Dome on January 4.
