Big E or Xavier Woods, depending on injury

The New Day are one of the greatest factions in wrestling history, and after Kofi Kingston won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35, their popularity is now through the roof. Not a single soul received bigger post-WrestleMania pops than Kofi, who had the ultimate feel-good win at ‘Mania when he defeated Daniel Bryan after one of WrestleMania’s greatest matches ever.

Big E and Xavier Woods should be in consideration for their own singles pushes, and Kofi’s win is proof that not only does the Power of Positivity win out, but The New Day can stay together while still pursuing championships other than the tag titles.

Although E would be the favorite here due to his status as a former Intercontinental Champion and his incredible sense of humor, he may miss WWE Money in the Bank 2019 after suffering a torn meniscus on the SmackDown after WrestleMania.

If that’s the case, then Xavier Woods is more than just a backup plan. After seeing him compete in a tournament for the United States Championship at the beginning of 2018, many fans realized that Woods has so much untapped potential in singles competition in WWE, especially those familiar with his work in TNA as “Consequences Creed”. Woods is a genius on the microphone and one of wrestling’s best sellers inside the ring, where he’s capable of pulling off difficult and creative spots that get the crowd invested in his matches.

Woods or Big E could wield the Money in the Bank briefcase as insurance in case someone were to beat Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship, enabling The New Day to remain champions in some capacity, or they could attempt to pursue a different title.

It seems like a longshot, but I wouldn’t rule it out, especially if Big E makes a fast recovery from his knee injury. A former NXT Champion, Big E is someone WWE has always been high on, and he could really make his mark to put New Day over huge. We’ve seen The Shield walk around with heaps of gold, so it’s not out of the question for New Day to do the same.
