Roman Reigns vs. Sami Zayn

Even if I’ve listed a match above that won’t come to pass or doesn’t seem to thrill large portions of the WWE Universe, this is probably the first one that will get people mad. But if you look closely at the two superstars involved, their current stories are very much compatible with one another.

In one corner you have Roman Reigns. The Big Dog spent the winter out of action to undergo treatment for leukemia. Upon his return, he had nothing but kind words for the WWE Universe, who — maybe surprisingly to some — were fully in Roman’s corner as he was on the shelf.

The other side of the coin is Sami Zayn, who missed several months of action with multiple shoulder injuries. When Zayn returned, he lashed out at the WWE Universe, claiming he “didn’t miss [them]” while recuperating. Zayn also wants to hold the fans accountable for their actions — who they support, and how.

Could two more polar opposites exist? If you’re building towards a big blow-off in a war for the fans, these are definitely the two participants I would choose. The complementary styles in the ring would help the match, too — both are above average superstars, to boot.

And let’s not forget that WWE SummerSlam 2019 is taking place in Toronto. This is the same building that turned an nWo Hulk Hogan face against The Rock at WrestleMania X-8 — if Canada native Sami Zayn is facing noted crowd target Roman Reigns, what do you think the reaction for each would be?
